M/T HISTRIA DIAMOND came in Constanta Shipyard in May 2008 for highly complex conversion works, this conversion project being considered the biggest of its kind (form oil tanker into bulk carrier) ever to be carried out in Europe. The conversion process involved removal of ~5,000 t of steel, welding of 7,000 t, steel works of 200t concerning ballast tanks, removal of tanker characteristic equipment and replacement with bulk carrier specific systems, removal of 20,000 m of piping system and fitting of 4,000 m piping for conversion.

The conversion project design was provided by SNC ShipDesign SRL, a subsidiary company of SNC.
